METU INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL
July 6 - August 14, 2009

METU's
Summer Term (July 6- August 14) is open to all international students.
Students from METU's partner
universities are especially welcomed. A wide range of courses
from METU's
catalog, all taught in English, are offered, including
technical and science courses, some of which involve field work.

In
conjunction with this Summer Term, METU offers a special "International
Summer School" (June 29-August 14). Students may apply for
this International Summer School if they want to take "Beginning
Turkish I (TFL 271)" an intensive 3-credit Turkish language course
and/or "Contemporary Turkey: Turkish State and Society (IR 245)",
a 3-credit course on Modern Turkey. Both TFL 271 and IR 245 are courses
in METU's catalog and open to visiting/exchange students.

Students
attending the International Summer School MUST be on campus ONE
WEEK BEFORE the regular Summer Term in order to begin one
week orientation program and classes for both TFL 271 and IR 245.
Students enrolling through the International Summer Term can also
take one more course during the regular Summer School. Usually, there
are several courses that could be of special interest to international
students. For the Summer 2008, these courses were "History
of Modernity in Middle East", "Issues in Turkish Foreign Policy",
"Cultural and Social Aspects of Ottoman Istanbul", and "Ottoman Diplomacy and the European State System" 3-credit
courses offered to all upper level students.

Students
who want to take other courses of their interest from the related
departments may do so after the one-week orientation program.
